Taste of Russia is planned as a cultural and social event that will combine presentation of authentic Russian cuisine, presentation of arts and shows from various Russian Speaking Ethnic Groups.

About Us

Canada is one of the most prosperous countries in the world, proud of many different ethnic and cultural groups, living and working in harmony, and cultural diversity. Each group has equal rights to maintain and share its cultural heritage and to participate fully and equally in the country's national life. Russia is a country inhabited by more than a hundred nations and nationalities, with diverse historic and cultural traditions. Despite almost two decades of crisis and instability in the country, Russia is still widely known for its cultural heritage, social and economic developments. Among approximately 600,000 Russian speakers of various ethnic origins residing in Canada, roughly 250, 000 live in the Greater Toronto area. At present, the Russian-speaking community consists of a vast number of people with many different ethnic backgrounds and beliefs which include but not limited to, Orthodox Christians, Catholics, Muslims, Jews and Buddhists . Within these various religious denominations, the break-up of the Russian Speaking population across Canada includes, Russians, Ukrainians, Belorussians, Jews, Moldavians, Georgians, Armenians, Russian Speaking Koreans, Buryats, Kazakhs, Azeri's, and many others, which differentiates this community from other most populated ethnic groups.

The Little Russia Association of Canada has been established in order to bring Canadians and the Russian speaking population across Canada together; while furthering creation of a true authentic, Russian-Canadian speaking community, and supporting the integration of various Russian speaking populations into the Canadian society. The Little Russia Association of Canada is founded to be the unified national voice of Canada's Russian Speaking Community from coast-to-coast. Our Not-For-Profit organizations key focus is to:

  • Integrate the Russian Speaking Population across Canada into the Canadian Society through various events, seminars and mass media publications. Furthermore, through the collaboration of other ethnic communities and organizations which share similar goals and values.
  • Improvement of cultural and social awareness between Canadians and the Russian Speaking Population across Canada;
  • Acquainting Canadians with the Russian Speaking Population across Canada and its achievements;
  • Identifying issues important to the Russian Speaking Population across Canada and assist in communicating with government, media, community, business, and academic leaders to build understanding and close relationships;
  • Creating Advocacy Programs and Committees;

The Little Russia Association of Canada acknowledges the importance to foster stronger ties with Canadian society through activities including interfaith cross-cultural relations through education programs, various social and business seminars. We will serve as the voice for Russian Speaking Population across Canada, maintaining its proactive role of Russian Speaking Canadian advocacy and responding to all Russian Speaking Population across Canada needs. Such will be performed with in Russian Speaking Population across Canada in relation with our committees and advocacy programs.

Little Russia Association of Canada works to foster a Canada where Russian Speaking Canadians, as part of the multicultural fabric of this country, live in and contribute to an environment of opportunity and mutual respect.

Mission

Little Russia Associations Mission is to preserve and strengthen the quality of Russian Speaking Canadian life's in Greater Toronto and Canada, through volunteer and professional leadership. Aimed at iidentifying issues important to the Russian Speaking Population across Canada, and be the unified national voice of Russian Speaking Population across Canada.
